University of Iowa LLM Program

The University of Iowa allows foreign lawyers the opportunity to pursue individualized research at an esteemed public university located in the Midwestern United states. The University of Iowa is widely regarded as one of the best public universities in the country, and is home to one of the largest law libraries in the U.S. as well. The University of Iowa LLM program offers two tracks: a legal practice track, and a research track. The legal practice track is designed for foreign lawyers who wish to gain an introduction to U.S. law and to become qualified for the New York, California, or Wisconsin bar examinations in order to practice in the U.S. The research track is for foreign lawyers and U.S.

Energy & Natural Resources Law in 2 weeks, live on Sept. 1.,U Tulsa LL.M is also putting
together a short term, certificate Global Energy Summer Institute for
international law students and lawyers. It will be a 2 weeks-long program in

Legal-Ease Seminar/ University of Hawaii August 22-23

Legal English Workshop in Hawaii
The William S. Richardson School of Law and Legal-Ease International are pleased to announce a new Legal English Workshop that will be offered at the University of Hawai`i on August 22-23, 2014 for international participants. Taught by Ms. Dena Falken, Esq. of Legal Ease International, Inc., the World Leader in Legal English, this two-day seminar is specifically designed for law students and professionals to strengthen their knowledge of English as it is used in the legal field. The program will focus on both spoken and written English and cover technical terms commonly used by lawyers and legal practitioners. International graduate students of the University of Hawaii’s Master of Laws (LLM) Program and Advanced JD Program will participate in the seminar to help them prepare for their studies at the Law School.

Pacific McGeorge 90th Commencement Ceremony

 University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law awarded 210 Juris Doctorate degrees, 15 LL.M. degrees and two Master of Science in Law (M.S.L.) degrees to culminate its 90th academic year at the graduation ceremony of the law school on May 17, 2014. Dean Francis J. Mootz III presided over the ceremony, and University President Dr. Pamela A. Eibeck joined him in the platform party. The Honorable Consuelo M. Callahan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit delivered the commencement address.

Student Honors

The class of 2014 Valedictorians are Gregory Hayes (Full-Time Day Division) and Tara Rojas (Part-Time Evening Division). Student speakers for the commencement will be Brian Michael Wiltshire (Full-Time Day Division), David C. Bass (Part-Time Evening Division), and Luisa Roswitha Geiling (LL.M. Division).
Jake Weaver (Full-Time Day Division) and Tara Rojas (Part-Time Evening Division) received Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Awards. Gregory Hayes (Full-Time Day Division) and Natalie Kuffel (Part-Time Evening Division) will be honored with Outstanding Graduate Awards for academic achievement. Amanda Iler (Full-Time Day Division), Roman Edwards and Melissa Hastie (Part-Time Evening Division) received Outstanding Student Achievement Awards. ALI-ABA Scholarship & Leadership Awards went to Theresa Schriever (Full-Time Day Division) and Aimee Martin (Part-Time Evening Division). Amanda Massimini (Full-Time Day Division) and Mario Walther (Part-Time Evening Division) received Outstanding Student Service Awards.

UC Davis Law Seminar in Como, Italy

UC Davis School of Law and the University of Insubria School of Law have collaborated to present the International Comparative Environmental Law Seminar in Como, Italy. The recent program ran from May 25-June 6 and included sessions taught by Professors Albert Lin and Richard Frank along with Professor Barbara Pozzo of the University of Insubria School of Law and visiting experts from the Netherlands.
The intensive, two-week program provides opportunities for law students and legal professionals from around the world to study environmental law by examining and comparing European Union and U.S. environmental law policies and regulatory regimes. Topics include pollution control laws (air and water), hazardous waste laws, protection and preservation of plant and animal species, climate change, and regulation and liability for environmental harm.
The 17 students attending the recent seminar hailed from the United States, Italy, Russia, Mongolia, Switzerland, and Montenegro. In addition to their classroom learning experiences, students had the opportunity to visit legal institutions and learn about the rich environmental and historical culture of Como and Milan.
