UC Davis School of Law at King Hall is home to our innovative and engaged student body of 498 J.D. and 55 LL.M. students. Our students attend courses and study in our striking new state-of-the-art King Hall facility and enjoy outstanding library with access to the collections of all UC campuses and more.
The LL.M. Experience At UC Davis School of Law, the faculty fully integrate students into their ambitious research and practice activities. Be part of an intellectually curious yet distinctively supportive community. Faculty, fellow students and staff, no matter how busy and engaged in professional achievement, are accessible, empathetic and committed to your education.
The LL.M. program follows an academic calendar with the program starting in late August and running through May of each year. LL.M. students select from all law school courses to design educational programs reflecting their educational interests. LL.M.s participate in their classes with U.S. J.D. students.
The LL.M. Director guides and counsels students throughout the year to make sure academic and professional goals are achieved.
Multiple lecture series bring dynamic, nationally and internationally known experts to complement the regular curriculum. King Hall hosts over 50 student organizations to enhance your education and networking.
Program Details Each LL.M. candidate must successfully complete a minimum of 20 semester units of work.
LL.M. students may choose to personalize their course programs to specialize in a particular area of law, such as Business Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Environmental and Natural Resources Law, Health Care Law and Bioethics, Human Rights and Social Justice Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Law, Public Interest Law and more.
Each LL.M. student must also complete an intellectually rigorous legal research and writing project.
We support our LL.M.s through the year with special academic and career skills workshops.
Orientation in U.S.A. Law Program for Pre-LL.M.s We encourage you to participate in our Orientation in U.S.A. Law program. Designed for both working professionals and incoming LL.M. students, this program helps you to get settled into Davis and learn about American culture as you practice your legal English, learn an overview of U.S. Law, and participate in LL.M. preparation workshops—all before the academic year starts. More than half of our LL.M. students participate in this program each year, and they find it immensely valuable.
We accept applications throughout the year and encourage applicants to submit by January 10. Contact: Cyntia Spencer, LL.M. Admissions Officer
