Pacific McGeorge LL.M. Students Come From 23 Countries

The University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, annually attracts students from all over the world. For the fall semester, the school has one of its largest contingents of graduate and international students on campus ever with 49 LL.M. and J.D. exchange students coming from 23 different countries. LL.M. Students Come From 23 Countries

Pacific McGeorge, which annually attracts students from all over the world, boasts one of its largest contingents of graduate and international students on campus this semester with 49 LL.M. and J.D. exchange students coming from 23 different countries.


Twenty-seven students are enrolled in the LL.M. in Transnational Business Practice. Foreign countries represented include Austria/Germany (Julia Steffen) Austria (Veronika Vanas), Botswana (Kusigani Alidi), China (Daisy Deng, David Lu, Simon Sun, Joe Zhou), Egypt (Ahmed Ali), Nepal/India (Ashutosh Shrivastav), Nigeria (Susan Obasi-Ikeagwu, Obehi Okojie), Russia (Anna Solovyeva), Saudi Arabia (Abdulmajeed Alabbad, Saad Alabdulwahed, Ibrahim Alaskar, Hussam Alhabardfi, Yazeed Al Saeed, Sultan Altwerqi), Spain (Miguel Angel Perez Magdaleno), Sweden/Austria (Martin Lilja), Tajikistan (Saidahamad Ikromov), United Kingdom (Saima Aslam, Cerys Poolis) and Uzbekistan (Anvar Aslanov). Three Americans (Deniz Haupt, Phillip Johnson, William Reese) are also in the law school’s flagship masters program, now in its 31st year.


Many of the students in the LL.M. in Transnational Business Practice program, such as Sun who already holds a Pacific McGeorge LL.M. degree in Water Resources Law-International and is an assistant professor at South China University of Technology School of Law, will return to their native countries. Others are planning to take the State Bar of California examination in July 2012.


LL.M. Students Come From 23 Countries


The seven students in the LL.M. in U.S. Law & Policy - U.S. Law track come from Brazil (Adriana Aguena), Cameroon (Bonaventure Nfidor), Lebanon (Mirna Abou-Yafethh Tohme), Mexico (Elvira Daza Hernandez), Romania (Razvan Ionita, Adela Roderean) and South Korea (Wonjoon Kim). Alumna Fareena Azhar,’10, is joined by fellow Americans Jason Arack, Joshua Fox, Alaine MacKenzie and Daniel Johnson in the LL.M. in U.S. Law & Policy - Public Policy track. Two participants from other countries, Kuwait (Hesham Alhashash) and Saudi Arabia (Nada Hasan), are also in that program.


The three students in the LL.M. in Experiential Law Teaching come from China (Liu Xiaobing, Su Xinjian) and Russia (Margarita Vladimirova).


There are three J.D. exchange students from Belgium’s Catholic University of Louvain (Fruy Gaelle, Valerie Nicaise, Julia Selyanskaya), one from Denmark’s University of Copenhagen (Anahita Khatam-Lashgari) and one from China’s Zhejiang Gongshang University (Wang Yumeng).
